A field is a mapped piece of a farm and can be divided into field areas

Setting up the field

  1. Set number of rows in that field/field area, number of plants per row in a field, a field can have rows of different sizes, 10 rows can have 100 plants in each, 20 rows can have 70 plants in each, so row configuration should be flexible, we can have up to n types of row sizes.
  2. Set up irrigation type in that field/field area, types and their required data below:
    1. Dripper
      1. Dripper flow rate
      2. Plants per dripper
      3. Drippers per row
      4. Manifold (2Way, 4Way) (Tehan proposed we remove this)
    2. Drip tape
      1. Dripper flow
      2. Plants per row (Each plant gets a dripper)
    3. Pivot
    4. Other
  3. All the data received from this set up will be computed to show total number of plants expected in a field, can go up to a farm, a landholding, and other useful information like dripper count and flow rate:
    • Total flow per hour = drippers per row × rows × litres per hour per dripper. The example is 50 drippers × 10 rows × 4 L/hour = 4,000 L/hour (4 m³/hour).
    • For drip tape, we use the same calculation logic, defaulting to one dripper per plant.
    • That expected flow is then compared with the pump-house physical flow-meter reading; discrepancies are flagged for review and runtime adjustment per station.
    • Water per plant to be calculated, and for daily water, runoff, EC and pH readings to be recorded.
    • Runoff is flagged above 30%, and EC outside a 20% variance.
